More times than not, the correct answer to the question is "D", all of the above. When a musculoskeletal injury occurs, it invariably will effect all three of the main structures: 1. nerves, 2. muscles and ligaments, and 3. the joint space.
The second problem with using a statement like this to explain symptoms is the word, "JUST". This trivializes your perception of the problem. Any one of the above answers are serious enough on their own. And ignoring them can be dangerous.
Leave this word out of your vocabulary when describing your symptoms. Let us show you how seriously we take getting you better. Afterall, what is more important than your health?

It is important to understand that the changes that have been occurring with your body to create it's current symptoms, have been occurring on the inside. This may seem obvious, but the image of an injured spine or joint is one that is difficult for many to imagine. If we could look directly into the painful area, we would see things that look like bruising, swollen and inflamed soft tissue, irritated nerves, and perhaps years of scar tissue buildup that all change the function, and needless to say, how that joint feels each and every time it moves.
